Blood pressure readings are the only way to determine if you have high blood pressure, sometimes known as the "silent killer." Since patients with hypertension (high blood pressure) often have no symptoms, you may have high blood pressure without being aware of it.
In a severe form of hypertension, symptoms like headaches, bleeding from the nose, and shortness of breath are common.

Drop in for a quick clinic blood-pressure check. If your reading is high, our pharmacist can offer 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and make sure your GP receives your results.
Who is this service for?
Adults who are 40 years old or over, who do not have a current diagnosis of hypertension.
Patients, by exception, under the age of 40 who request the service because they have a recognised family history of hypertension may be provided the service at the pharmacist's discretion.
Patients between 35 and 39 years old who are approached about or request the service may be tested at the pharmacist's discretion.
Adults specified by a general practice for the measurement of blood pressure (clinic and ambulatory blood pressure checks). This process should be agreed locally with general practices.
What we do
Clinic BP check
We take a seated reading with a validated device and explain your numbers clearly.
24-hour ABPM (if indicated)
If your clinic reading is high, we can fit an ABPM device to measure your blood pressure across a full day/night for a more accurate picture.
Results & next steps
Normal? We'll encourage healthy habits. High? We'll offer ABPM and share results. Very high? We'll arrange an urgent GP referral within 24 hours. Low? We'll advise and refer if needed.

Yes—for eligible adults aged 40+ who haven't had a recent check and don't already have a diagnosis. If you're not eligible, we can still help—ask our team.
We'll explain your reading and, if indicated, offer 24-hour ABPM. We'll also share results with your GP so they can decide on further care.
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring measures your blood pressure at intervals over 24 hours as you go about your day and sleep. It gives a more reliable picture than a single clinic reading.
Walk-ins are welcome for a quick check. For ABPM fitting, please call ahead so we can book time with the pharmacist.
