Side Effects and Safety

Common side effects (usually mild and temporary)

- Tiredness, dizziness or headache

- Severe, persistent stomach pain (with or without vomiting) — possible pancreatitis; stop treatment and seek urgent medical help
- Gallstones or gallbladder problems — pain in the upper right stomach, fever or yellowing of the skin/eyes
- Severe dehydration from prolonged vomiting or diarrhoea, which can affect the kidneys — keep drinking fluids
- Low blood sugar (mainly if you also take certain diabetes medicines such as insulin or sulfonylureas)
- Signs of a serious allergic reaction — swelling of the face, lips or throat, difficulty breathing
- Mounjaro must not be used in pregnancy — additional barrier contraception is advised for women on oral contraceptives for 4 weeks after starting and after each dose increase
